8.17.09 Update
The Macon County Transportation Steering Committee has released a Goals and Objectives (G&O) survey. The G&O survey is a tool to engage the communities of Macon County in the transportation planning process. The results of the survey will aid the steering committee in understanding citizen's perception of transportation and the desired future vision for the county. The survey is short and only takes a few minutes to complete. If you would like to print and complete a written survey, then please mail it to Ryan Sherby - Southwestern Commission, 125 Bonnie Lane, Sylva NC 28779. Thank you for your participation.

7.25.09 Update
The first meeting of the Macon County Transportation Steering Committee went very well. An overview of the CTP process was presented by Cooper Sellers of the NCDOT Transportation Planning Branch. The presentation is listed below under the Resources - Maps and Documents section. As presented in the presentation, the first major steps in producing a CTP are the Goals and Objectives Survey, and the Network Roads Dataset, which are the roads to be studied in the county.

2008 Educational Forum
The Southwestern Commission RPO hosted an educational seminar for the Jackson County transportation task force and the citizens of the county. Below are the presentations made by the three speakers: Leigh Lane, Walter Kulash, and Drew Joyner. Some of the issues from the presentations are pertinent to the transportation challenges we face in Macon County.
