Ombudsman is a Swedish word for advocate.

What does an Ombudsman do?

·     Serves as an advocate for residents
·     Educates the public and staff
·     Monitors for Resident’s Rights
·     Works to resolve grievances

The Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee Members

·     Are volunteer advocates
·     Are appointed by County Commissioners
·     Are trained by the Ombudsman
·     Visit Nursing Facilities Quarterly
·     Work to increase Community involvement
