Workforce Development

The Workforce Development Board was created as a requirement of the federal Department of Labor’s Workforce Investment Act of 1998.

The Southwestern Workforce Development Board charters JobLink Centers to provide services to job-seekers and employers.

The purpose of the JobLink Centers is to create a highly skilled and motivated workforce and to promote economic growth of the region.

The Workforce Development Board promotes economic growth by providing services to employers such as:

  • An employer resource room
  • Labor market information
  • Human resource expertise

The Workforce Board promotes a trained workforce by:

  • Providing basic and intensive services to individuals looking for work
  • Providing access, funding and/or referral for training for those who need training to obtain and retain employment
  • Providing assessment and technology for career development
