Workforce Development
The Workforce Development Board was created as a requirement of the federal Department of Labor’s Workforce Investment Act of 1998.
The Southwestern Workforce Development Board charters JobLink Centers to provide services to job-seekers and employers.
The purpose of the JobLink Centers is to create a highly skilled and motivated workforce and to promote economic growth of the region.
The Workforce Development Board promotes economic growth by providing services to employers such as:
- An employer resource room
- Labor market information
- Human resource expertise
The Workforce Board promotes a trained workforce by:
- Providing basic and intensive services to individuals looking for work
- Providing access, funding and/or referral for training for those who need training to obtain and retain employment
- Providing assessment and technology for career development
Services and activities funded by the Southwestern Workforce Development Board are equal opportunity employers/programs.
